Economic power, population development and facilities with educational and service facilities and are the focal points of the political and cultural life of the country. Your position within the respective city hierarchy is not even remotely matched by any other city in the country.

The urbanization trend in Latin America only began between the mid-1930s and the end of World War II and is more pronounced than in Asia and Africa. It also differs in the individual Latin American countries. The most important countermeasures of the affected governments include the development of agriculture through land reform and village development, the targeted industrialization of the province to create jobs and the expansion of small and medium-sized towns.

Many agglomerations in Latin America are growing very quickly. This poses major challenges for society in terms of urban development, infrastructure expansion (transport, water supply, educational institutions) and the creation of employment opportunities. Segregation processes are a widespread phenomenon.

The preference for coastal fringes, favorable high mountain locations – such as the high valleys of Mexico and Bogota – and areas with good transport links, for example along the Amazon and its tributaries, are characteristic of the population distribution. Furthermore, there are higher population densities in agrarian regions such as the north of Argentina. For more information about the continent of South America, please check zipcodesexplorer.com.
