When wearing a shirt no one imagines the numerous processes used until the piece fits the body.
To get to the final product dozens of companies are involved in this process that employs thousands of manpower.
All Dimona flat or customized shirts go through these production phases in search of the best quality with competitive price.
Understand the process
The manufacture of any product begins with the choice and purchase of the raw material.
In the case of T-shirts, most of the pieces are 100% Cotton, which means they are used in making cotton fibers.
The world’s most consumed textile fiber has been used for more than 700 years, but it was in the US that the intensive cultivation of the cotton plant began in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
During the manufacturing process, the first step agglomerates the fibers into a yarn through the spinning, and knit into machine knives to obtain the flat knit.
The knitting consists of forming a mesh, forcing the yarn to form successive loops.
Prior to dyeing the fabric is bleached to remove impurities or stains with Hydrogen Peroxide (Oxygenated Water) obtaining a white article and ready for dyeing.
To dye, small dye molecules have to attach to the cotton fibers.
After dyeing the cloth undergoes the finishing operations for the final properties of touch and appearance.
The finishes are made on machines similar to those of dyeing and allow comfort properties in use and beauty in colors.
consists in producing “molds”, which are pieces of paper that are the basis of the mesh cut in appropriate shapes and sizes in a lengthy and complex task. The “molds” will guide the cutting of the mesh into parts, which will later be joined by stitching to give origin to the piece made according to the design that the designer conceived.
In this process the computer is used, allowing the modeler to do the work with more speed, precision and greater perfection.
The cut consists of extending the unfolded mesh for 24 hours to rest and relax the fibers and later stacking the fabric in special tables, to effect the cut in the desired models and sizes.
One of the concerns in the cutting operation is to minimize waste and consequently raw material costs.
Nowadays, computerization helps a lot at this stage of production.
In terms of tailoring, the T-shirt is a simple piece whose operations are identical.
To close a Dimona T-shirt specific machines are used where the sides and shoulders are sewn, another where the collar is placed and a special one for hem.
The sewing machines are arranged in a row, each with a different operation, allowing the shirt to leave the production line ready, only finishing operations are lacking.
It consists of giving the finishing touches to the quality control to verify that the part does not contain defects and for the removal of the threads of the seam.
Then go to ironing and packing.
Before the final packaging, the T-shirt is folded in standard size and labeled, then placed in an individual plastic bag.
Finally the T-shirts are arranged in sets of several units in cardboard boxes and goes to the stores Dimona, place where we, final consumers, we can acquire them in the tones of the season and also create custom prints.
